The hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. the location was fantastic, right in the heart of everything, making it easy to explore the city. the traditional house had a cozy and warm atmosphere, giving us a truly authentic experience.
The shower facilities were quite basic and lacked a heater, which was a bit uncomfortable during the cold weather. the steep stairs leading up to the bedroom could be problematic for elderly guests.

Attractive traditional-style house on residential hill, 10-min walk to old town. Stunning furniture, outdoor deck, and beautiful garden. Warm with large gas heater and air-con. Charming host offered itinerary and dinner suggestions. Comfy futons, crisp sheets, well-appointed kitchen. Can book chef or opt for Japanese breakfast delivery. Undoubtedly worth a return visit. Japan at its best! 🌸

We were blown away by the incredible traditional house and the stunning view of the river. The location in the old area was perfect and allowed us to explore Takayama with ease. We especially enjoyed the nearby onsen for a truly relaxing experience. The cherry on top was being collected from the train station and shown around town by a friendly and knowledgeable staff member who spoke excellent English. we had a once in a lifetime experience at Iori Stay in Takayama and would highly recommend it to others.

We had the privilege of staying in a beautiful traditional Japanese townhouse called "The Hideaway," which provided us with an authentic and unique experience. The house was spacious and well-equipped, with a cozy living room and comfortable beds for all of us. The highlight for our family was the private courtyard garden, where we enjoyed peaceful moments together, surrounded by the beauty of nature. It truly felt like our own little oasis in the heart of Takayama.
For dads, it would be great if there were more child-friendly amenities available, such as a small play area or toys for the kids.

Loved staying in this traditional Japanese house with a mix of old and new designs. The city views were amazing and I enjoyed the air conditioning and free WiFi. Free pick-up from the train station was a nice touch too.
Hated how inconvenient it was to have the bathroom downstairs while the bedrooms were upstairs. Really messed up my nighttime routine.

I absolutely loved the beautiful Japanese-style decor of the house. The sliding doors, tatami mats, and traditional artwork created a peaceful and authentic atmosphere. The general areas were spacious and well-maintained, making it easy for me to navigate around the house. As a senior, I appreciated the accessible layout and the thoughtful additions like handrails and a comfortable seating area. It made me feel safe and comfortable during my stay.
I would have appreciated better assistance from the children working there in terms of providing information about local attractions and transportation options.

I absolutely adored the traditional Japanese decor of the hotel, with its beautiful tatami flooring and serene ambiance. It made me feel like I was stepping into a different world, and I truly appreciated the effort put into maintaining the authenticity of the design. The general areas of the hotel were also well-kept and clean, making it easy for senior people like myself to navigate around without any trouble. , the hotel's accessibility was top-notch, with convenient amenities and facilities that catered to the needs of older guests like me.
If I had to suggest one improvement for a better vacation for senior people, it would be to have more staff members available to assist us. While the children working there were polite and helpful, having a larger team would ensure that there is always someone available to provide assistance and attend to any needs or concerns that may arise during our stay.

The hotel facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, a nice size bathroom, and a separate toilette. The living room is cozy and there is a large space for eating and relaxing. The staff were welcoming and helpful, providing us with pick-up service from the train station. The breakfast served at the restaurant next door was delicious and included both Japanese and Western options.
Nothing that we didn't like.
